How Do I Get An Older Program To Run On Windows XP
The latest software, in the majority of cases, runs well on Windows XP. But, in some instances, there are just a few programs from back in the Win 95/98 days that you have gotten so used to that you just can't do without them. All is not lost. By using Windows XP's compatibility mode it is usually possible to get an older program to work within XP.
/If the program you want to execute in XP has a short cut on your desk top then Right Click the short cut. If it doesn't have a short cut you may have to search Windows Explorer for the executable file. Once you have located the executable file then, as above, Right Click the file
/ From the drop down menu click Properties
/ In the Properties window click the Compatibility tab
/ On the Compatibility tab place a check mark in the Run this program in compatibility mode option
/ From the drop down list select the operating system that you know it will run well in. This can be Windows 95,98,Me,NT,2000
/ If necessary you can make changes to the display settings by checking the relevant box in the display settings section of the compatibility mode window
/ After you are satisfied with the alterations you have made click the Apply button followed by OK to Exit
/ Now Run the application to see that it works OK. If it still doesn't work then try a different operating system/setting
