2) As hinted in the above link, it exists a FREEWARE program to make USB sticks bootable (part of the advanced MAME project): MAKEBOOTFAT: http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/boot-readme.html http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/doc-makebootfat.html http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/boot-download.html
3) The above is a command line utility, it exists for BOTH Windows32 and Linux. Windows users might find its syntax a bit difficult to understand, I posted here: http://www.aaltonen.us/archive/2004/03/01/tip-boot-from-usb-key-addendum/ a practical example, I will soon update with this info document referred to in #1
